Apart from being decorative items in the Minecraft universe, bookshelves serve many purposes. From enhancing the enchantment process on items, to dropping loot as well as providing townspeople interaction, bookshelves are a nice added touch to the game’s storyline. Read our Minecraft step-by-step guide below for a full-length tutorial on how to make a bookshelf.
Step 1: Aquire a crafting table. If you already have a crafting table then this isn’t a big deal. If not, you must create one. To create a crafting table, take wood planks from your inventory, and create one using your character tabs.
Step 2: Aquire books and wood planks. Three books and 6 wood planks are needed to create 1 bookshelf. Books can be created easily with little materials and wood planks can be made from wooden logs. Wooden planks can be made from various wood types. Different wood planks will not change the outcome of the bookshelf. Read our in-depth tutorial on how to make books for an easier experience.
Step 3: Place items into the crafting table. Take the books and wood planks and place them into the empty slots in the crafting table. It is important to place the books and planks into the crafting table exactly like shown below or it won’t work.
Step 4: Take the bookshelf from the crafting table. Scroll over the newly created bookshelf from the far right slot and drag it into your inventory bar.
Step 5: Using the bookshelf. To use the bookshelf, place it into your action bar like any of your other usable items. It can now be placed wherever you would like to. Placing a bookshelf near an enchanting table allows you to add higher-level enchantments onto items than you could before. They can also be used as fuel for fires and villagers can interact with them.
