ver wanted to ride a llama in real life but didn’t have the yard space, money to buy one, or even a petting zoo near by? Luckily, Minecraft has your covered. Like most other aspects of the game, the llamas are also interactive. You can kill them like all other mobs, but a more light-hearted interaction allows you to ride them. Although riding the llamas gives no benefit to your charter and your not able to control them like a horse, its a nice little addition to the games dynamics. Read our step-by-step guide below for a full length tutorial on how to ride a llama in Minecraft.

Step-By-Step Guide

Step 1: Find a llama. Llamas are easily found in Extreme Hills, Wooded Mountains, and Savannah biomes.

Step 2: Tame the llama. Ensure that nothing is selected in your inventory bar. You must only have your arm to tame the llama. To tame the llama, jump onto the back of it even after it keeps knocking you off. This is done differently on various platforms; right-click for Mac/PC and left trigger on Xbox and Playstation. By going on its back over and over, the llama will show less resistance every time and eventually start to show hearts around it. It is now tamed.

Step 3: Ride a llama. The llama will now longer buck you off and you are able to ride it. It really is that easy! Unfortunately, the llama is not controllable, so riding it doesn’t really serve any benefit. You can however put blankets on their back and decorate them.
