Donavan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, of the NBA franchise the Utah Jazz, have been in the news quite a bit over the last few weeks for reasons other than basketball highlights. Rudy Gobert has become infamous for joking about the Coronavirus by touching every microphone at his last media session and then testing positive for COVID-19 shortly after.

Because of the close contact with his teammates and other NBA players, the NBA suspended the season indefinitely; they were the first sports league to do so. It later came out that Donavan Mitchell, his teammate, had contracted the virus from Rudy Gobert, allegedly. It was reported that Donavan Mitchell was very upset with Rudy Gobert’s actions towards the pandemic. The Athletic reported that the Utah Jazz had begun trying to repair the relationship between the two stars but “it doesn’t appear salvageable”.

The Utah Jazz better hope that they can mend the relationship or the franchise may have to pick between the two stars. We’ll continue to monitor the situation to see how it unfolds.
