he creators of Minecraft were able to expertly blend real world events seamlessly in the open world simulator. Little added items throughout the world and slight map changes, allow the user to experience both worlds at the same time. Holidays like Christmas and Halloween are not outliers in this case. Pumpkin plants are able to be carved into jack-o-lanterns and placed around your town to give it a more spooky and festive vibe. Read our step-by-step guide below for a full length tutorial on how to carve a pumpkin in Minecraft.
Step 1: Find a pumpkin plant. Pumpkin plants are found throughout the world and are usually quite common in the Extreme Hills or Plains biomes. They can be identified fairly easily. Below is a picture of what to look for.
Step 2: Wield your shears. If you haven’t acquired a set of shears, it would be wise to do so first. Shears can be created by putting 2 iron ingot into your crafting table. Take your shears and place them into your inventory so that you can wield them like any other tool or weapon.
Step 3: Use the shears. Move your cursor crosshair into the middle of the pumpkin. The pumpkin will now be slightly highlighted in your view. Carve the pumpkin with the shears by using right click (on PC/Mac or left trigger on Xbox/Playstation) while hovering on the pumpkin.
Step 4: Dig up carved pumpkin. Since the pumpkin is now carved, you can now dig it up and take it with you. To dig it up, press left click (on PC/Mac or right trigger on Xbox/Playstation). The carved pumpkin I will now turn into a smaller pumpkin and hover above the ground.
Step 5: Pick up carved pumpkin. Walk over the now floating pumpkin to pick it up like any other item. Be sure to pick it up relatively quickly before it disappears.
Step 6: Place carved pumpkin. Since the carved pumpkin is now in your inventory, you are free to place it wherever you would like.
