Are Worldwide Pandemics the Future for the Next Generation?

istory is being made as the coronavirus has impacted so many people worldwide. People seemed to have to forget proper human interaction skills and basic decency. News stories break on a nightly basis about how people are fighting for items such as toilet paper, cans of food, and various meats. Interactions like the one below have not been uncommon to see.

In addition to people panic buying food and other products, preventative health measures haven’t been as easy to come by. While the government has conveyed the importance of using a mask to cover your face while in public, some people have not been lucky enough to acquire N95 masks. Most people have been having to make do with bandanas or old t-shirts wrapped around their faces. This got us thinking.

Post COVID-19 Society

If you’ve experienced a relatively normal childhood and you wanted to earn more money than just your allowance (if you were privileged enough to get this), you’ve either started a lemonade stand, been a part of one, or contributed to someone else’s. What if you were a child in times like this? Access to a supply of face masks and a hustler’s mindset could be the solution to the problem. Imagine being a kid and walking out to your front yard with a table, a stack of face masks, and a sign that says “Face Masks $15”.

If viruses and sickness continue to generate at such speed and thrive in our society, the notion of face masks being sold on the side of the road may end up being the future for generations to come.

What will a solution look like?

In a time of global economic halt, the future is uncertain. The economy we will return to will be forever marked by the impact of COVID-19 and most likely different in key ways. Will the local production of goods be a higher priority? Will cities start growing their own food? Does the bolstering of integral businesses begin receiving special funding for insulation against something like this in the future? How will schools change? How will work change?

We are confronted by more questions than we have foresight to see into the future of our world, as things are now so radically different. Will the time the world finds itself in now cause a global psychological shift to how things could be? Now is an incredible time of opportunity.
