teve from Minecraft is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and he's bringing along a few other character skins from the ultra popular open-world game. Masahiro Sakurai, game director for Smash Bros. Ultimate, announced on Thursday that Steve will be the second new fighter in the DLC Fighters Pass Vol. 2. This has been a huge surprise to most, as this character will be the first Minecraft representative in the Super Smash Bros. series.

When Is Minecraft Steve's Release Date?

Steve will reportedly join the Smash Bros. 77 fighter roster on October 3rd at 10:30 AM Eastern. And don't worry, all fans excited to use this new fighter will likely receive a detailed rundown on the character's moves and skills on the same day.

What Will Steve's Alternate Skins Look Like?

As mentioned, Steve from Minecraft will bring along a few skins to add some variety to the battle. Nintendo has released some screenshots of the assets for the character, so let's check them out!

Alex, often known as the female counterpart of Steve, will be joining the battle, as well as Zombie, the scary man we all know and "love", Enderman, and a few more skins which is a lot more exciting than just changing clothing colors like many of the competing characters.

What Will Steve's Moves Be?

Minecraft is a crafting and building game, with generally not a whole lot of fighting mechanics other than a one or two button attack with a variety of weapons. Knowing the creatives at Nintendo, they have figured out a way to make an incredibly unique move set to merge all of the popular crafting tools and physics into damaging attacks.

In Nintendo's official trailer, Steve appears to use a lot of building abilities for trapping and movement, crafting abilities for new swords, mining carts, TNT, and more. The character's core mechanic might be the idea that they can physically change the environment around them.

It seems like Steve can craft swords of different materials, similar to that of Donkey Kong winding up, where he can potentially wield a diamond sword if he has sufficient time to craft one. He has an ability to glide with Elytra for a short time which could be for his recovery/up-special move. There are is a lot of speculation for how Minecraft Steve will play out in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but we will all just need to wait until he's released to really find out what he's made of.
