Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes Sign a 10-Year Contract

Yes, you read that correctly. It’s no shock that the Kansas City Chiefs wanted to lock up the Super Bowl MVP, Madden Cover and generational arm-talent Patrick Mahomes, for the foreseeable future.

Having said that, football has never been a sport that averaged long and fruitful careers. Remember Aaron Rodgers was in the GOAT debate before breaking his collarbone? How about Peyton Manning’s neck injury? Shall we mention Joe Theisman? Yes, in a split second anything can happen in football. In no way are we wishing injury on Patrick. But God forbid something happens, the Chiefs are the hook for a MASSIVE payout.

Yes, if this was baseball giving Bryce Harper a 13-year deal, chances are he won’t tear an ACL rounding the bases after hitting an absolute rocket. But this is football.

However, if this goes as planned, NFL fans globally will rejoice if this move keeps the Chiefs on top of the AFC, bringing the Patriots long overdue dynasty to an end.

Who is Patrick Mahomes?

Patrick Mahomes is the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL). Like many gifted quarterbacks, he initially played college football and college baseball at Texas Tech University. Following his sophomore year, he quit baseball to focus solely on football. In 2017, he was drafted by the Chiefs 10th overall in the NFL Draft. His first year in the league was not action-packed; as he sat behind veteran QB Alex Smith, soaking up every piece of knowledge and advice he had to offer. The following season, the Chiefs traded Smith, handing Patrick the keys to the franchise.

In his first season at the helm, he shocked the world. He was named 2019 Pro Bowl, First-Team All-Pro, NFL MVP, NFL Top 100, and took the Chiefs all the way to the AFC Championship, losing to the New England Patriots 37-31.

The following season broke through the final barrier and captured the SuperBowl and MVP trophy, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 35-24.

This was all under his rookie contract….
