n October 7, Taylor Swift publicly announced her support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 presidential election in cookie form. Yes, that’s right folks - Taylor Swift posted a photo to her Instagram and Twitter accounts of herself holding a batch of blue cookies with “Biden Harris 2020” written across them. After years of public political neutrality, Taylor Swift’s cookie stunt marks the first time she’s endorsed a presidential candidate. Look what you made her do, Trump.

A Public Announcement

In the most recent issue of V magazine, Swift wasn’t shy about sharing her reasoning for her voting announcement.

“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election," Swift, 30, declared in the new issue of V Magazine. "Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs."

Are We Surprised?

Well, as Swift kept her political opinion fairly neutral for many years, her opinions began to surface during Donald Trump’s administration during the 2018 midterm elections. So to sum things up, no we aren’t surprised by her most recent move.

She’s also had this on her mind for quite some time now. Back in May following the death of George Floyd, Trump referred to looters as “thugs” in a Tweet and said he'd offered military assistance to Minnesota Gov.

"Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts," Trump tweeted.

In response to Trump’s Tweet, Swift wrote

“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November."

And November’s Just Around The Corner

Well, November is just around the corner and Swift has made it quite obvious her ballot won’t have any blank spaces on it this election.

“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included.”

Fans are on the same page as Swift as her freshly baked tweet quickly became her most-liked, hitting 1 million likes in under five hours. Taylor Swift and Trump? Yeah, that’s what we call bad blood.
