etting lighting perfect is one of the most crucial aspects of video making. Whether you are vlogger, makeup artist, photographer or video producer, the right light(s) is an integral component of your studio. Many people today are also buying video lights to improve the quality of their video calls.

The lighting makes the video; too bright or overexposed, and you begin to lose detail in the brighter areas; too dark or underexposed, and you can barely see anything.

Today, video lights have evolved from niche-specific movie-size lights to portable lights that the average Joe can purchase for a fraction of the cost. Whether you are just starting out in video making or are looking to replace your old video lights, a brief search will quickly reveal the abundance of video lights on the market from. This can make it hard to find the right one. Luckily, we did all the hard work for you. Read below

The Neewer Dimmable Video Light

The Neewer Video Light comes in a pack of two portable USB-powered video lights. Coming standard with SMD LED bulbs, metal housing, and extra accessories, the Neewer Dimmable Video Light provides functionality for a very low cost. Priced at $42, this light blows the others out of the water.

Key Features

Weighing only 1.47 pounds, the Neewer Dimmable Video Light is lightweight and portable. Each video light comes with a stylish design that features a main illumination head that sits on a multi-dimensional adjustable tripod stand. Each light delivers 5600K light and the pair, 10W of illuminating power.

One of the best things about this video light pair is its articulating tripod stand. It comes in a two-piece construction that features the main base that rests on three feet and an extension rod that slides inside the base tube in a telescoping motion. The extension rod and the tripod stand can be collapsed into a single unit for easy packing. Between the tripod stand and extension rod, the lamp can stand between 3.15 to 13.4 inches in height.

This video light pair also moves well. Once connected to the holder, the lamp can rotate in all directions and tilt to an angle of 180 degrees.

Apart from the diffuser, this pack includes three perfectly cut color filters (red, blue, and yellow) for each lamp for a total of six filters. These filters allow users to vary the colors of the lights and can even be combined to create secondary colors.

For power, each video light features a 188-cm long USB cable that can be connected to most USB outlets (adapters are recommended). They don’t run on batteries, making them lighter still. Control is achieved via an integrated control switch with three buttons on each cable. The control switch allows you to turn the light on and off, and the other two, to dim or brighten the bulbs between 10-100% brightness levels.

Flaws

The Neewer video lights are great but still have their share of flaws.

First, while they can be plugged into most devices with USB outlets, the company suggests you rather not. The lights pull decent power and will make short work of draining the batteries on laptops, power banks, and mobile devices that can reverse charge. 5V AC-DC adapters are recommended but are not included.

It also takes up decent desk-top real estate and is a little larger than very portable video lights.

Verdict

The Neewer Dimmable Video Light set is totally worth the money. It is 66 SMD LED bulbs to provide excellent illumination for just about any home video application and can be adjusted to suit your needs in terms of color, angle, and height. Check out this amazing bargain on Amazon!
