esla Motors has seen great success with its electric cars and other related products, and over time, they have actually become the world’s best-selling plug-in electric car manufacturer. That’s not surprising one bit, but something that is surprising is success of Tesla’s Cybertruck. Tesla really surprised its fans with the launch of its all new electric Cypertruck in 2019. The futuristic looking Cybertruck, which some refer to as a large metallic trapezoid, starts at $39,000 and is the company’s sixth vehicle model since its founding in 2003. With major market competitors, such as the Ford F-series which has been the best selling pickup for over 40 years, let’s review the top 5 reasons why the Tesla Cybertruck is a success.

Making a Statement

The Cybertruck has received its fair share of love on social media for its appearance, including memes comparing the Cybertruck to the SpongeBob Squarepants character, Flats the Flounder. However, there’s another important resemblance attributing to its success. Tesla’s Cybertruck is an exact resemblance of the classic DMC DeLorean (also known as the time traveling sports car in Back to the Future). Elon Musk announced the company received over 200,000 reservations just days after unveiling. If that doesn’t have success written all over it, well, we don’t know what does.

Innovative

From the body panels to the bed of the truck, the Cybertruck has utilitarian written all over it. All the body panes on the Cybertruck are made of 3mm thick cold-rolled chromium-nickel alloy stainless steel. This building material happens to be the same kind of steel that SpaceX will be using for their Starship.

In any other truck, the bed is typically the least interesting component. Tesla calls a portion of the Cybertruck’s bed the “Vault” - when closed, the rear end of the truck appears completely flush. Optionally, the cover can be solar-powered, so that when it's closed, you can get up to 15 additional miles of range per day. With such innovation the cybertuck stands out as the only truck on the market with this capability.

Online Ordering Capabilities

Like most products in today’s day and age, online shopping is integrated somewhere in the process. That’s no exception when it comes to the automotive industry. It’s true that many car manufacturers have plotted how it would look to sell cars online - well, Tesla has made this a reality for its customers. From start to finish, the Cybertruck (and other models) are available for purchase all through Tesla’s website.

Current regulations on automobile sales dictate that no individual can actually buy a car directly from a manufacturer, and instead, have to make their purchase via a dealership. Tesla was the first company to offer direct purchasing to it's customers with the lowest deposit required of any vehicle in history.

Price Point

The list of 5 Reasons why the Tesla Cybertruck is a success wouldn’t be complete without bringing the bank into the conversation. With such a unique body style, high performance, and a built-in autopilot function, one would assume the Cybertruck to be completely out of their budget. The reality of the actual price point is very different. Believe it or not, the Tesla Cybertruck starts at only $39,000, ranging upwards of $69,000. Considering we’re talking Tesla here, that’s pretty impressive, not to mention tempting. Who knows, maybe you could even pay for it in Doge Coin.

Practical

The list of top 5 Reasons Why the Tesla Cybertruck is a success wouldn’t be complete without speaking to it’s practicality. The Cybertruck gives you a whole lot of practicality, plus more. We’re talking about a bed complete with electric outlets. There’s also storage underneath the rear bed and in the side sails for just about anything. There’s a solar bed cover option, and it also has a front trunk. If you have air-compressed tools, you can even power them off of the Cybertruck through its adaptive air suspension system.

From a use case perspective the Cybertruck seems to tick just about every box. It's durable, environmentally friendly, and relatively affordable with lots of bells and whistles. While this is the first truck Tesla has manufactured there's no telling if additional models could be on the way in the future. Will Tesla be manufacturing a smaller version of the CyberTruck to capture that segment of the market too? Only time will tell.
