arrants have been issued for the arrests of New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar by the Miramar, Florida Police Department stemming from an incident that occurred Wednesday, May 13. The two NFL players issued arrest warrants were charged; Baker with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm while Dunbar has been charged with four counts of armed robbery.
Per the police report, Dunbar and Baker got away with 4 watches totalling over $50,000- Rolex (valued at 18k), Audemars Piguet (17.5k), Hublot (25k) and a fake Richard Mille (600), plus over 12K in cash.
Per the report, Baker took the money and watches while armed with a semi-automatic firearm, while Dunbar assisted.
The pair were allegedly at a cookout when an altercation ensued over a gambling dispute. One witness told police Baker and Dunbar lost over $70,000 at a party in Miami days earlier via gambling, some from high-stakes card games.
Some people at the party believed this to be a planned robbery as Baker directed a third member in a red mask mask to shoot someone at the party. Another witness said those involved in the robbery all left in three different vehicles, a Mercedes Benz, a Lamborghini and a BMW — which were prepositioned for immediate departure from the scene of the crime.
A spokesperson for the Miramar Police told ESPN there have been discussions with at least one of the player’s representatives about turning himself in, but neither have done so at this time.
The two NFL players issued arrest warrants have not spoken. However, the Giants have also released a statement on Dunbar’s arrest, via Dan Duggan of The Athletic:
“We are aware of the situation. We have been in contact with DeAndre. We have no further comment at this time.”
Duggan also reported Baker did not participate in the Giants’ virtual meeting Thursday or any other meeting during the team’s voluntary virtual OTAs this past week.
